Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction and Acceptance

Welcome to the Indian Institute of Emergency Medical Services (IIEMS). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website (www.iiems.org), training programs, courses, services, and any related facilities provided by IIEMS.

By registering for our courses, accessing our website, attending our training programs, or using any of our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our services or register for our courses.

2. About IIEMS

IIEMS is a premier Emergency Medicine, Trauma Care, Emergency Medical Services, and Disaster Management training institute headquartered in Kerala, India. We are an American Heart Association (AHA) authorized International Training Center (ITC) providing certified training programs including:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - HeartCode BLS and classroom-based training
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED
    • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
    • Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS)
    • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
    • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Course
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • Wilderness Life Support Course
    • BLS & ACLS Instructor Courses
    • Various other emergency medical and disaster management training programs

3. Course Registration and Enrollment

3.1 Eligibility

Participants must meet the specific eligibility criteria for each course as outlined in the course description. Some courses are designed exclusively for healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, respiratory therapists, etc.), while others are open to the general public.

3.2 Registration Process

  • All course registrations must be completed through our official website (www.iiems.org), by phone, email (courses@iiems.in), or in person at our training centers
  • Participants must provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • Registration is confirmed only upon receipt of complete course fees or as per the enrollment terms communicated
  • IIEMS reserves the right to verify the credentials and eligibility of participants
  • False or misleading information provided during registration may result in immediate disqualification without any recourse

3.3 Course Confirmation

Upon successful registration, participants will receive a confirmation email with course details, schedule, venue, and any pre-course requirements. It is the participant's responsibility to review this information carefully.

3.4 Minimum Enrollment

IIEMS reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any course if minimum enrollment numbers are not met. In such cases, registered participants will be notified and offered alternative dates or locations.

4. Course Attendance and Participation

4.1 Attendance Requirements

  • Participants must attend all scheduled sessions of the course to be eligible for certification
  • Punctuality is mandatory. Late arrivals may not be permitted to join the session and may forfeit their participation
  • Participants must complete all required pre-course work, assessments, and practical skills demonstrations
  • For blended learning courses (e.g., HeartCode BLS), participants must complete both online and hands-on components

4.2 Conduct and Behavior

All participants are expected to maintain professional and respectful conduct throughout the training. IIEMS reserves the right to dismiss any participant who:

  • Engages in disruptive, abusive, or inappropriate behavior
  • Fails to follow instructor directions or safety protocols
  • Appears under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances
  • Harasses or intimidates other participants or staff members
  • Violates any facility rules or regulations

Dismissed participants will not be eligible for certification and will not receive any refund or compensation.

5. Certification and Credentials

5.1 Certification Requirements

To receive certification, participants must:

  • Complete all required course components including attendance, assessments, and skills demonstrations
  • Achieve the minimum passing score on written examinations (where applicable)
  • Demonstrate competency in all required practical skills
  • Comply with all course requirements as set by IIEMS and the certifying organization (e.g., American Heart Association)

5.2 Issuance of Certificates

  • Certificates will be issued by the respective certifying organizations (AHA, ITLS, PHTLS, etc.)
  • Digital certificates may be provided immediately upon successful completion
  • Physical certification cards will be dispatched as per the certifying organization's timeline
  • IIEMS is not responsible for delays in certificate issuance by third-party certifying bodies

5.3 Certificate Validity

Most certifications are valid for two years from the date of issuance. It is the certificate holder's responsibility to track expiration dates and enroll in renewal courses as needed.

5.4 Duplicate Certificates

Requests for duplicate certificates must be made in writing and may be subject to additional fees as determined by the certifying organization.

6. Intellectual Property Rights

6.1 Course Materials

All course materials, including but not limited to manuals, videos, presentations, handouts, and digital content provided during training, are the intellectual property of IIEMS and/or the respective certifying organizations (American Heart Association, ITLS, PHTLS, etc.).

6.2 Restrictions on Use

Participants are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use course materials solely for personal educational purposes. Participants may not:

  • Reproduce, copy, or distribute course materials without written permission
  • Use course materials for commercial purposes or to conduct training for others
  • Modify, adapt, or create derivative works from the materials
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Share digital access credentials or online course content with unauthorized individuals

6.3 American Heart Association Materials

Important Notice: The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such courses, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

7. Photography, Videography, and Media Usage

During training sessions, IIEMS may capture photographs and video recordings for educational, promotional, and quality improvement purposes. By participating in our courses, you grant IIEMS the right to:

  • Photograph and videograph training sessions
  • Use such media in promotional materials, website, social media, and marketing communications
  • Feature participant testimonials and feedback in promotional content

Participants who do not wish to be photographed or recorded must inform IIEMS in writing prior to the course commencement.

8. Privacy and Data Protection

8.1 Information Collection

IIEMS collects and processes personal information including name, contact details, professional credentials, course performance data, and other information necessary for course administration and certification.

8.2 Use of Information

Your information will be used for:

  • Course registration and administration
  • Issuance of certificates and credentials
  • Communication regarding courses, schedules, and updates
  • Compliance with certifying organization requirements
  • Quality improvement and research purposes (anonymized data)
  • Marketing communications about future courses and services (with opt-out option)

8.3 Data Sharing

IIEMS may share participant information with:

  • Certifying organizations (AHA, ITLS, PHTLS, etc.) as required for certification
  • Educational partners and affiliated institutions
  • Regulatory authorities when legally required

IIEMS will not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

8.4 Data Security

IIEMS implements reasonable security measures to protect participant data. However, no system is completely secure, and IIEMS cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted or stored.

9. Course Cancellations and Rescheduling

9.1 Cancellation by IIEMS

IIEMS reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses due to:

  • Insufficient enrollment
  • Instructor unavailability
  • Facility issues or emergencies
  • Force majeure events (natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, etc.)
  • Any other unforeseen circumstances

In such cases, participants will be notified as soon as possible and offered the option to transfer to another scheduled course or receive appropriate resolution as per IIEMS policy.

9.2 Rescheduling by Participants

  • Participants wishing to reschedule must notify IIEMS in writing at least 7 days before the scheduled course date
  • Rescheduling is subject to availability and may incur administrative fees
  • Requests to reschedule made less than 7 days before the course may not be accommodated
  • Participants who fail to attend without prior notification forfeit their enrollment

10. Limitation of Liability

10.1 Training Purpose

All courses are conducted for educational and training purposes only. While IIEMS strives to provide high-quality instruction based on current guidelines and best practices, the training does not guarantee:

  • Employment or job placement
  • Licensure or professional advancement
  • Success in emergency medical situations
  • Complete elimination of risk in emergency response scenarios

10.2 Use of Skills

Participants are responsible for maintaining their skills and knowledge through regular practice and recertification. IIEMS is not liable for any outcomes resulting from the application or misapplication of skills learned during training.

10.3 Injury and Medical Conditions

  • Participants engage in practical training at their own risk
  • IIEMS is not liable for injuries sustained during training, except in cases of gross negligence
  • Participants with pre-existing medical conditions should consult their physician before participating in physically demanding courses
  • Participants must disclose any medical conditions that may affect their ability to participate safely

10.4 Third-Party Content and Services

IIEMS may provide links to third-party websites, resources, or services. IIEMS is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of such third-party resources.

11. Website Usage

11.1 Acceptable Use

When using the IIEMS website (www.iiems.org), you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current information
  • Not use the website for any unlawful or prohibited purpose
  • Not interfere with or disrupt the website or servers
  • Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the website
  • Not use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the website without permission

11.2 User Accounts

If you create an account on our website:

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
  • You must notify IIEMS immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • IIEMS reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms

11.3 Website Availability

While IIEMS strives to maintain website availability, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The website may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, technical issues, or other circumstances beyond our control.

12. Instructor and Faculty Qualifications

All IIEMS instructors are certified by the respective certifying organizations and undergo regular training and updates. However:

  • IIEMS reserves the right to assign or change instructors for any course
  • Instructor schedules are subject to change due to availability or unforeseen circumstances
  • IIEMS is not liable for instructor absences or substitutions

13. Equipment and Facilities

13.1 Training Equipment

IIEMS provides state-of-the-art training equipment including manikins, AEDs, medical simulation devices, and other necessary materials for hands-on training. Participants must:

  • Use equipment properly and as instructed
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or damage immediately
  • Not remove equipment from training facilities without authorization

Participants may be held responsible for willful damage to equipment or facilities.

13.2 Personal Equipment

Participants are responsible for bringing any required personal items as specified in pre-course communications (e.g., writing materials, comfortable clothing, etc.).

14. Professional Responsibility

Certification through IIEMS courses does not:

  • Authorize participants to practice beyond their scope of practice or licensure
  • Replace professional licensure requirements
  • Substitute for workplace-specific training or protocols
  • Guarantee competence in all emergency situations

Participants must understand and comply with their professional scope of practice, local regulations, and workplace policies when applying learned skills.

15. Continuing Education and Recertification

Most certifications require renewal every two years. It is the certificate holder's sole responsibility to:

  • Track certification expiration dates
  • Enroll in recertification courses in a timely manner
  • Maintain current certifications as required by their profession or employer

IIEMS may send courtesy reminders about upcoming expirations but is not responsible for lapsed certifications.

16. Grievances and Complaints

IIEMS is committed to providing high-quality training and addressing concerns promptly. If you have a complaint or grievance:

  • Submit your concern in writing to courses@iiems.in
  • Include detailed information about the issue, date, location, and individuals involved
  • IIEMS will investigate and respond within a reasonable timeframe
  • Frivolous or abusive complaints may not receive a response

17. Amendments to Terms and Conditions

IIEMS reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on the website. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. Participants are encouraged to review these Terms periodically.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue to be valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law.

19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of IIEMS services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Kerala, India.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms and Conditions, together with any course-specific terms communicated during registration, constitute the entire agreement between you and IIEMS regarding the use of our services and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
